Answering the Call to Care
The Family Bridge Model
Providing faith based, relational care through professional support
Family Bridge is part of Cal Farley’s Boys Ranch’s continuum of care, built on more than 85 years of Christ‑centered service to children and families. It represents an expansion of our service to children and is designed to complement our longstanding residential program. The Family Bridge model prioritizes relationship‑based care through carefully supported homes rather than institutional placement.
A defining feature of Family Bridge is its referral process. Children come through prayerful referrals from parents or guardians seeking help, not through CPS or court systems, allowing for thoughtful matching based on readiness, capacity, and best fit.
Cal Farley’s provides licensing, training, placement matching, case management, and clinical oversight, while churches and communities provide spiritual and relational support. This model protects children, strengthens families, and ensures every placement is surrounded by Christ‑centered care.

Church Partnerships
Faith‑Based Support for Children and Families Rooted in Prayer and Community
Family Bridge partners with a small number of churches who feel called to care for children and families through Christ‑centered support. These partnerships are built on relationship, not recruitment, and focus on surrounding Bridge Families with prayer, encouragement and community.
Cal Farley’s provides professional oversight, licensing, training and clinical support. Churches offer what only the body of Christ can, which is spiritual covering, relational support and a culture where foster families are known and loved. Churches are never responsible for placements or compliance, as those responsibilities remain fully with Cal Farley’s.
Family Bridge grows intentionally and prayerfully, ensuring that every partnership is sustainable, aligned in mission and centered on the well‑being of children and families.
If your church is interested in partnership with Cal Farley’s Family Bridge, please contact Laura Bownds, Assistant Administer for Clinical and Placement Services, at laurabownds@calfarley.org or 806-322-2510.
Bridge Families
Open Your Home to Provide Christ-Centered Homes with Training, Support and Prayerful Placement
Bridge Families open their homes to children during seasons when they cannot safely remain with their own families. These short‑ and medium‑term placements are rooted in stability, dignity, and Christ‑like love. Parenting through Family Bridge is a sacred calling, supported every step of the way.
Children are placed through a prayerful referral process, not through Child Protective Services or the courts. Bridge Families receive trauma‑informed, faith‑integrated training, ongoing coaching, and professional support from Family Bridge staff, along with encouragement from their church community.
While placements are temporary, the impact is lasting, helping children experience safety, belonging, and hope during critical moments in their lives.
Kinship Care
Supporting Relatives to Help Children Remain Connected to Family
Family Bridge recognizes the importance of preserving family connections whenever possible. Kinship placements, where children are cared for by relatives or trusted family connections, can offer a powerful sense of continuity, identity and belonging during times of crisis. When kinship caregivers step forward, Family Bridge works to surround them with the same professional and Christ‑centered support provided to all Bridge Families.
Kinship caregivers receive guidance, training and ongoing support to help them meet children’s needs in safe, nurturing ways. Like all Family Bridge placements, these arrangements are rooted in prayerful discernment, trauma‑informed care and a commitment to protecting children’s dignity and well‑being.
By supporting kinship placements, Family Bridge helps children remain connected to their family story while experiencing stability, structure, and hope. These placements reflect the heart of the ministry to walk alongside families with wisdom, compassion and faith during some of life’s most challenging seasons.
