Campus-based programs

Cal Farley’s specializes in short- and long-term residential care for children and youth at two locations. Cal Farley’s Boys Ranch, which is 36 miles northwest of Amarillo, Texas, serve boys and girls ages 5-18. Cal Farley’s Girlstown, U.S.A., which is 45 miles west of Lubbock, Texas, is a girls-only facility for ages 10 to 18.

Our campus-based programs have been “home” to thousands of boys and girls since 1939, and have provided life-changing professional services at no cost to youth or their families. In a Christ-centered atmosphere, Cal Farley’s strengthens families and helps children develop into successful adults. We make a lifelong commitment to nurture and care for each child we serve.

All residents are provided with basic needs, such as meals, clothing and school supplies. Payment for residents’ medical and dental care is the responsibility of their families; however, some financial assistance is available for those in need.

We accept children for residential living who display mild to moderate behavior, school and legal problems. We do not accept children with drug addictions, children with serious mental disorders, gang members or other exceptionally violent youth. The safety of all our children is our primary concern. We are not licensed to accept medically fragile, mentally retarded (including autism or Asperger Syndrome) or suicidal children.

Only the adult with legal custody who is living with the child can apply for residential care at Cal Farley’s. The time it takes from the first call to admitting your child depends on how quickly you provide us with necessary information and whether space is available on the campus best suited for your child.

Cal Farley saw a champion in every child. Every day, we provide opportunities for boys and girls to become champions by developing the six “senses” they need – a sense of safety, a sense of belonging, a sense of achievement, a sense of power, a sense of purpose and a sense of adventure.
