Alumni Support Services

Alumni Support Services is an example of Cal Farley's lifetime commitment to the children we serve in residence. These services provide a source of comfort, encouragement and a sense of family support to alumni. When a resident makes the transition from campus life to becoming functioning members of their communities, Alumni Support is there to help them.

Examples of the services available to our alumni include transitional housing, case management, scholarships for college or vocational training, resources for independent living skill development, assistance in locating community-based resources and a program to provide short-term housing for qualified alumni who struggle to meet some basic needs.

In May 2003, the Cal Farley’s Alumni Support Center opened its doors to its first residents. The Center is a converted apartment building with six apartments and is located adjacent to the Cal Farley’s Campus Support Center in Amarillo, Texas. During its first five months of operation, 11 alumni participated in the new program. According to a former resident, “It’s good to know you have somebody on your side.”

In addition, we are enhancing our abilities to provide support to alumni through job-seeking and financial assistance. For example, we provide alumni with jobs through vocational contracts with Amarillo-area businesses and non-profit agencies. Cal Farley’s pays all or part of their salary for a limited time and then the employer has the opportunity to continue the working relationship.
