FRC Services for Families Who do not have Kids in Care

It is an unfortunate fact that most children seeking placement at a Cal Farley’s campus-based program are not admitted into care. There are a variety of reasons children are not accepted into placement, but in four Texas communities, direct services to families are still available through Cal Farley’s.

Direct services to families may include case management, life-skills coaching, goal-setting, family and parenting programs, referrals to other agencies and other support services. FRC staff members have helped prevent family situations from becoming unmanageable or explosive. Our staff has also provided transportation to assist families in accessing community resources, provided case management services to help families access Food Stamps and Medicaid, provided school supplies for children, assisted families to avoid financial crisis situations by helping develop a family budget and provided holiday assistance. These and other services are provided to approximately 100 families per year at our Family Resource Centers in Amarillo, Austin, Dallas/Fort Worth, and Houston.
