Cal Farley’s Boys Ranch Historic Landmarks

Cal Farley's Boys Ranch was founded in 1939 on the site of Tascosa, formerly the county seat of Oldham County, Texas.

The original county courthouse of Oldham County is currently the Julian Bivins Museum. Mr. Bivins donated the original property to Cal Farley, seen here in a statue with a boy. The courthouse served as the home to the first boys who arrived in 1939, as well as hundreds of boys who arrived in the following decade.

The Oldham County schoolhouse served the educational needs of the children living in Oldham County for many years. The first boys living at Boys Ranch were educated here. The building was restored in the 1990’s and is currently used for special functions.

Boothill cemetery was started in the late 1880s following a gun battle. The cemetery overlooks Boys Ranch and is a popular tourist attraction.
