Dan Adams Biography

Dan Adams has been with Cal Farley’s since 1996 and served as the President and CEO since June, 2005. He lives in Amarillo with his wife of 27 years Charlotte, and his 12 year old son, Hunter. His daughter, Keri Lynn, works as a social worker in Lubbock, Texas.

Dan was born in Atlanta, Georgia. As one of six children in his family, he traveled around the world with his parents who were missionaries for the Methodist Church. As a youngster he attended schools in France, the Democratic Republic of Congo, and northern Zambia for boarding school; Nashville, Tennessee, and Farmington, New Mexico. He graduated from high school in San Angelo, Texas in 1975.

Dan received a Bachelor’s of Science in Industrial Technology from Southwest Texas State University in San Marcos, Texas in 1983 and his Master’s of Science in Social Work through the University of Texas in Austin in 1991. He has done “field faculty” work for the Schools of Social Work at UT-Austin, UT-Arlington, and Lubbock Christian University.

Dan’s work experiences have included direct care, teaching, and case management with children in basic care and residential treatment facilities. He has held management and senior level nonprofit leadership positions for the past 18 years. His public service experiences include his current board membership as the Vice President for the Texas Alliance for Children and Family Services, and he has been the President of school boards of trustees for two school districts, one of which was Boys Ranch Independent School District. He also serves as a member of the University of Texas School of Social Work Advisory Council.

Dan’s life experiences from his childhood to his career in social services, has been about mission focused work with youth and families. He considers his life experiences to have been a perfect foundation for his role as President and CEO of this organization.
