Council on Accreditation of Services for Families and Children, Inc. (COA)

In April 1999, Cal Farley’s earned accreditation from the Council on Accreditation of Services for Families and Children, Inc. (COA). Cal Farley’s has been re-accredited twice more since that time. COA is an international, independent, not-for-profit, child- and family-service and behavioral healthcare accrediting organization. COA's mission is to partner with "human service organizations worldwide to improve service delivery outcomes by developing, applying, and promoting accreditation standards.”

For an organization to become accredited, it must meet nationally established requirements that help ensure quality service. Accreditation provides an independent assessment that the organization performs services that the community needs, conducts its operations safely and effectively, and manages its funds wisely. According to COA, “In our current outcomes-oriented environment, organizations are increasingly called upon to demonstrate the impact of their services. Accreditation is designed to be a framework within which an organization can measure a variety of its achievements.”
